Accor thrills Melbourne with the opening of a second Mövenpick hotel

Mövenpick has opened its second Australian hotel. The doors to the Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer are now open and guests are now enthusiastically enjoying the brand’s famous “Chocolate Hour” among other gastronomic delights.

Occupying podium levels 1-6 of an imposing new development on the corner of Bourke and Spencer Streets in Melbourne’s CBD, the Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer features 172 well-appointed guest rooms featuring premium bedding, blackout curtains and Yuni beauty products.

Guest bathrooms have refillable Yuni Beauty toiletries.

New hotel facilities include ‘Miss Mi’ Asian fusion bar and restaurant, Mövenpick cafe and ice cream, while at the other end of the fitness scale is a fitness center, a hot tub, sauna and a 25-meter swimming pool open daily until 10 p.m. complete the indulgence of the guests.

Perhaps the brand’s most popular hallmark, the daily ‘Chocolate Hour’ starting at 3:30 p.m. allows customers to partake in a variety of treats including chocolate petits fours, churros, mini cones. ice cream and ice cream sandwiches. Customers can continue the delicacy by purchasing their own chocolate products such as chocolate infused cocktails or a Mövenpick ice cream parfait.

The tower was developed with Multiplex and Accor’s long-time partner, Fragrance Group Limited and is located opposite Southern Cross Station and less than 500 meters from Marvel Stadium, Queen Victoria Markets and the Aquarium Melbourne Sea Life. A third Mövenpick was recently signed for Brisbane, with the brand set to debut in the Queensland capital in 2024.

Accor Pacific CEO Simon McGrath said the company is excited to unveil Australia’s second Mövenpick hotel alongside Mövenpick Hobart, which opened in January.

The hotel pool, open until 10 p.m. daily, is one of the only hotel pools in town for nighttime swimming.

“While the recent Melbourne foreclosure had an impact on our opening date, it also gave us time to perfect the finer details of the hotel offering.
