Beverly Blair says her journey to owning Advanced Esthetics of Richardson was anything but ordinary. After earning a degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Dallas, Blair was certified by the National Association of Legal Assistance to work as a paralegal. In 2010, she left the field of law to become the owner of a towing company. The company had 10 trucks and 25 employees when it sold it in February 2020.
But since she was a child, Blair said she wanted to pursue her passion for skincare. She has suffered from her own skin problems for over 25 years, visiting dermatologists and beauticians as a child.
Her experience as a patient increased her general interest in the workings of the profession.
“I have a personal understanding of being a client myself, as my perspective as a patient goes beyond my time as a professional,” Blair said. “I have found so many formulas on how to help skin and what skin goes through to help my clients achieve their skincare goals.”
She obtained her esthetician license in 2018, transitioning fully to Advanced Esthetics of Richardson two years later.
As a certified oncology esthetician licensed in Texas, Blair also has the ability to do skin care modification therapy. In addition to specializing in acne and corrective care, Blair said she is certified to work with patients who are undergoing chemotherapy, radiation therapy or have other health conditions that affect their skin.
After growing up as a resident of Richardson, Blair said the business venture was a great opportunity to stay at home.
“Now my kids go to school in Richardson,” Blair said. “This is where I come from and I couldn’t love him anymore.”
Advanced Esthetics’ location also helps attract clients from all over North and East Dallas, Blair said. The next closest oncology-certified cosmetic clinic is in Fort Worth, she said.
