As closures soften, 10 ‘Vogue’ editors share their must-have summer beauty products and treatments

Over the past year, many of us have been creative when it comes to express yourself through beauty. Consider electric eye makeup for a pop of color on Zoom or impromptu at-home haircuts that run the gamut from minor cuts to full bobs. While we’ve proven that we can be resourceful in a virtual landscape, there’s nothing quite like wearing your favorite IRL eyeshadow or getting your hair cut from the salon in town. There’s also no denying that restorative beauty treatments, such as a facial or massage at your favorite spa, and studio workouts, like group yoga and pilates, have also been greatly lacking.

As more people are fully vaccinated in the United States and businesses continue to reopen, we can finally begin to enjoy more of the in-person pleasures that beauty brings to the streets and to our favorite wellness destinations. . Here, 10 Vogue the editors share what they can’t wait to do when it comes to beauty, from finally being able to rock that perfect red lip at dinner with friends to feeling the transformative effects of a Bio-Lift facial date again.

Virginia Smith, Global Fashion Network Manager

” I can not wait to return Rescue spa and the magical hands of Diana Yerkes. After last year, I will never take Bio-Lift facial treatment for granted again! I generally use a mixture of Biologique Recherche and Augustinus Bader products. I’ve been a fan of The Cream and Rich Cream for a long time, but the Cleansing Balm is a new favorite.

“I am delighted to receive keratin treatment. I have straight, super thick hair and a lot. Keratin helps [control] my hair for the summer, so when I’m active, swimming and running my hair dries in a tame way instead of being shaped like a triangular Christmas tree.

Ella Riley-Adams, Senior Life and Beauty Editor

“All I want this summer is to be outside without a cloud of fear. So, to extend my time in the sun, I stock up on SuperGoop sunscreen and baseball caps. (From a treatment perspective, I look forward to a trip to the new hotel Piaule upstate, where I plan to watch the trees alternating between hot and cold deep pools.) â€

Christian Allaire, fashion and style writer

“I’ve been completely lazy about my skin care routine for the past year or so, and it didn’t matter because no one saw me! Now that I’m starting to see friends again, I have to get back to it. I am delighted to charge my NuFACE again and start making it part of my morning routine. After a few days, I instantly notice that my skin is firmer and more sculpted.

Zoe Ruffner, Editor-in-Chief

“FaceTime sessions with the Pilates guru Amy nelms have been my saving grace for the past 14 months, but nothing beats a one-on-one in his oasis-like Flatiron studio, where its convenient adjustments will leave you feeling longer, taller, and straighter, without talk about possessing a dewy glow that I will recreate my days off with Olio E Osso’s tinted balm in French Melon.

Lauren Valenti, Senior Beauty Editor

“I have said it before and I will say it again: there is nothing more cathartic than a deep tissue scalp massage by another set of hands. I can’t wait to see my hairdresser Mischa G in his East Village living room, Treehouse Social Club. Not just for one of its pre-shampoo exfoliating and nourishing scalp treatments using the cold-pressed herbal wonders of Act + Acre, such as their delicious Detox Oil and refreshing Renew exfoliator, but also for sipping a piña. colada and listen to Martin Denny records on their outdoor patio as he settles down. A real treat for the senses! Healthy hair really starts at the roots, so here’s a start to summer with a lighter, more refreshed scalp and, in turn, a livelier head of curls. A real rebound!

“Thanks to Meejee’s Facial Cleansing Massager, my face has never been so soft or radiant. With soft silicone bristles and gentle vibrations, the massager helps cleanse clogged pores, remove skin impurities and promote collagen production. The back side doubles as a toning and massaging tool for your favorite serums and moisturizers! As an added bonus, it’s made from recycled plastic, and for every cleaner sold, the company will be removing four pounds of plastic from the ocean. For less than $ 100, this looks like a real bargain.

“After a year of having virtually nowhere to go, my ‘prep’ routine has been pretty minimal and low maintenance. This summer, I can’t wait to try RevitaLash Eyelash Conditioner and Olaplex No. 0 Bond Building Treatment for an effortless makeup-free look and salon-level hair at home.

“I’m delighted to give up my branded nude lipsticks and glosses (I have too many of them) and finally go for a touch of color, because it’s time! I recently found a perfect red shade for me by mixing Chanel’s Rouge Coco Bloom in Unexpected with shadow Luck, a neutral peach. I can’t wait to wear this lipstick while dining outside by the beach with two of my closest friends this summer.

“I have tried a number of hyaluronic acid serums, and the RéVive Hydrating Renewing Hydrogel Provided by far the fastest boost in hydration my dehydrated skin has ever seen. I love the texture, gelatinous and not too sticky, and the feeling of freshness it gives to my skin immediately after application. This serum is definitely an investment, but it’s definitely worth it, especially as summer (and scorching temperatures) is just around the corner.
