Emilia Clarke says this new foundation completely changed her makeup routine

For years Emilia Clarke was known as Daenerys Targaryen, the Mother of Dragons, on Game Of Thrones, but in the last year of lockdown, Clarke took on a new title: Queen of the Kitchen.

“I was becoming a very brilliant baker – cookies, cakes, pies, muffins, bread, tea cakes, brownies, blondies, everything,” Clarke says. Charm via Zoom from London. “But then I got damp in my kitchen and I couldn’t bake. It’s fixing itself, but it’s killing me. I became obsessed with cooking.

It should come as no surprise that the British actor gives 150% of just about everything in life. Whether it be to dye your hair platinum blonde to facilitate the transformation process into Targaryen or hold on to not wanting injectables, Clarke is committed.

She applies this same passion to her role as Ambassador of the Clinique brand. “My mom worked in skin care and makeup, so I was brainwashed when I was young,” she says. “She was teaching me how to cleanse, tone and hydrate from the age of 10, so I came into this industry ready and prepared her to take her to the next level. I know what works.

And does she ever. During our Zoom, she rolls out product after product of what must be an off-camera Mary Poppins-style handbag, offering a must-have item for everything. Do you have ultra-dry skin? No problem, Clarke said. “I’m always on the hunt for the perfect moisturizer, and I’ve found it with the new Moisture Surge 100 Hour Regenerating Moisturizer. It contains aloe vera and hyaluronic acid, so at the end of the day your skin is as hydrated as when you put it on. It’s incredible.”

Looking for a new full coverage, SPF foundation that is neither thick nor heavy? Clarke has a solution for this as well. “The Even Better Clinical Serum Foundation is my go-to product because it’s bottled skin care and takes care of everything at the same time, ”she says. “I don’t want to put three things on my face, I just want to put one thing on my face and I’m good to go. Plus, it comes in so many different shades.

Frankly, if Clarke’s kitchen had worked I’m sure she would have pulled out a homemade cake as well. But so far we’ve put it to the test with a series of Charm‘s Big questions of beauty to discover the secret of her magnificent eyebrows, her signature fragrance and her mother’s best beauty tips. Read on.

Glamor: What beauty trend are you obsessed with right now?

Emilia Clarke: Eyebrows ! Just keep them coming! I hold my breath for when the pencil gaze returns, and then I’m screwed. As long as we have bushy eyebrows, I’m good to go. But I’m also enjoying minimal makeup right now. It is very fashionable.

What do you use for your eyebrows?

I’m not doing anything. I brush them, that’s all. Sometimes I will use the Clinique Brush-On Styling Foam because I’m lazy and don’t care about doing anything other than that, but otherwise they behave great.

What beauty rule do you think is BS?

There’s this old-fashioned thing that you can’t do a lip and an eye. Sure you can! Why not? I think the makeup rules are silly. Whatever you want to do, you do it. Whatever you want to put on your face, put it on. Sort the colors, do everything, do nothing, everything is game.

Since your mother worked in beauty, what is the best advice she gave you growing up?
