Beauty inside

Sara Elizabeth Breeland Obituary – Florida Times-Union

Sara Elizabeth Breeland passed away peacefully on November 9, 2022 in the loving arms of her daughter under the compassionate care of the team at Community Hospice. He was a gentle and kind soul whose memory will be deeply cherished!

Sara spent her first 18 years in Warren County, North Carolina, surrounded by the support and stability of her family, school, and church. Particularly influential during her early years was her beloved grandmother Lizzy, whom she considered her role model. Sunday visits to Lizzy’s house, set in acres of fruit and nut trees and beautiful gardens, were a favorite activity for Sara and her four siblings. She vividly described memories of being welcomed with open arms into a home filled with handmade decor and the aroma of lavender. Meals and treats prepared with local produce were served in front of a crackling fire.

After graduating from high school, Sara trained as a secretary and was hired as a research secretary for the NC State Department of Entolomology. There she met her husband of 70 years, Sam. A true companion, she was his rock as he established a stellar career that required many, many relocations. No matter how many times she had to start over, Sara made it a priority to provide the most loving, nurturing, nurturing and supportive environment for Sam and their daughter imaginable. She also served her communities, volunteering for church and school activities when needed.

Like her grandmother, she added an artistic touch to every activity and hobby, from meticulously sewing clothes and curtains to oil painting and working on craft projects, planning trendy dinner parties, decorating and adding that extra garnish to a home-cooked meal.

She loved and sought out natural and cultural expressions of beauty; classical music, ballet, art museums, poetry and gardens.

She had a passion for learning and was a voracious reader on a wide range of subjects. She and Sam traveled extensively after retirement, and she enjoyed taking the enrichment classes and related educational excursions.

Sara was known for her beauty, inside and out. She truly lived by the teachings of her Christian faith. Her greatest expressed desire was always to give and serve when and however she could, and she did so daily with a truly pure motive. She shared a smile and an encouraging word of support with everyone she met.

Sara Elizabeth: warm, loving, nurturing, gracious, kind, wise, professional, generous, gentle, compassionate, quiet, supportive, encouraging and a source of strength to all who were lucky enough to be in her path.

Hardage-Giddens Funeral Home, Mandarin Chapel, 11801 San Jose Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32223 is making arrangements.
