Virginia State Parks Launches Online Reservation System | news/fairfax

Virginia State Parks has launched an online reservation site for campgrounds, cabins, yurts and picnic shelters, aiming to improve the visitor experience with better maps, faster reservations and a program improved loyalty for customers.

The new site went live on Thursday, January 27, after months of working with new state government management technology provider, US eDirect.

“Virginia State Parks is continually investing in ways to improve our internal systems and how we engage and serve the public,” said State Parks Director Melissa Baker. “This new system will streamline bookings and allow visitors to experience the natural beauty and incredible history of the Commonwealth.”

Virginia State Parks customers will experience a new system with enhanced features that includes:

• Interactive mapping that will give overnight guests the opportunity to explore each park in more detail.

• An enhanced loyalty program that will move from a points-based system to a dollar-based system, giving guests greater flexibility in converting repeat stays into discounted bookings.

• Updated waitlist functionality to alert customers when previously reserved sites become available.

• Faster online and in-person transaction processing times, creating a simpler user experience.

Virginia State Parks offers more than 1,600 campsites, 50 yurts and 300 air-conditioned cabins for rent. For more information, visit the website at www.virginiastateparks.gov.
