Welcome to Wonderworld: David Jones showcases natural beauty on the catwalk

Department store giant David Jones unveiled the latest Spring/Summer collections at its Elizabeth Street flagship in Sydney this week.

Titled Wonderworld, the runway featured a diverse lineup of models showcasing next season’s collections from local and international brands, with five presentations running between Wednesday and Friday for industry insiders and consumers alike. The runway featured local and international brands such as Aje, Camilla and Marc, Hugo Boss, PE Nation, Carla Zampatti, Matteau, Balmain, Balenciaga and Alexander McQueen.

Bridget Veals, David Jones general manager for womenswear, footwear and accessories, said Indoor retail that Aussies are ready to buy fashion again, with events back on the menu and borders open.

“After spending so much time at home, there’s a thrill to getting dressed again,” Veals said.

“With the new season coming, there are a lot of trends coming, including evening wear, feminine prints, bold colors, bodycon silhouettes and tailored suits. We’ve also seen great popularity in euphoric outfits, with low rise wedges, mini skirts and baby tees with a retro twist.

And, with the Christmas season just around the corner, Veals expects more people to be willing to shop for outfits in the coming months, given that there’s less anxiety about the idea. to potentially be thrown back into a shock lock.

Chris Wilson, managing director of menswear, kidswear, home and audiovisual at David Jones, agreed, noting that for the first time in several years, consumers are able to make concrete plans for their holiday events.

“We expect them to make the most of it,” Wilson said.
